Bingo bags more than 600 visits
01 November 2024
The City of Cape Town’s anti-litter mascot, Bingo, has reached a milestone. Bingo has visited over 600 public events since joining the City in July 2023. While Bingo’s diary is filling up fast, the public still have time to book a visit for schools and events.
Through Bingo’s high-energy interactions and educational activities, the anti-litter mascot plays a vital role in promoting responsible waste disposal across Cape Town’s communities.
Bingo has become a well-known figure at schools, community events and local gatherings, inspiring Cape Town’s residents to adopt cleaner habits and take ownership of their environment. By engaging with people of all ages, the message of proper waste disposal is spread in both an accessible and entertaining way.
Bingo has also attended some major events, including:
• The Netball World Cup;
• HSBC Sevens;
• Stormers/Springboks matches at Cape Town Stadium;
• Festive Lights Switch-on;
• Cape Town Carnival;
• City of Cape Town festive season programme at beaches
Residents, businesses, schools and community organisations are also reminded that Bingo is available for events. To book Bingo, visit: https://bit.ly/3rTaDLY.
A visit from Bingo includes educational talks, skits or games - depending on requirements - aimed at discouraging litter. It also includes fun and engaging interactions with the audience.
‘We are thrilled with the impact Bingo has made in the past year, reaching 600 events across Cape Town to promote responsible waste disposal. We extend our heartfelt thanks to every school, business and community group that welcomed Bingo to their events and gave the City a platform to share this important message. We encourage more organisations to book Bingo so that together we can inspire a cleaner and greener Cape Town for all,’ said Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Waste Management, Alderman Grant Twigg.
